Had the house on Turner Road exploded 10 minutes later, students from Wampatuck Elementary School would have been returning home to the neighborhood.
Just a half-mile from the site of the explosion, 431 students in kindergarten through sixth grade were getting ready for their 2:45 p.m. dismissal when a tremendous boom shook the school.
